More Water & Sewer Rate Hikes Recommended For Goldsboro

(GDN) — Once again, the City of Goldsboro is having to consider a potential water and sewer rate increase for its residents.

Dave Hyder of Stantec presented the new water and sewer rate study at Monday’s Goldsboro City Council meeting.

Hyder says the study shows the city would need:

  • A 15% increase in the rates in FY 2023
  • A 15% increase in the rates in FY 2024
  • A 12% increase in the rates in FY 2025
  • A 10% increase in the rates in FY 2026

The Capitol Improvement Plan for the city’s water and sewer system is driving the need for the rate increases.

Mayor David Ham says the council has a difficult decision to make.

Ham urged the council to look over the proposals with the idea of taking action on the water and sewer rates in the new year.
