Wreaths Across America Closes In On Goal For Wayne County

(GDN) — An update to a story we brought you earlier this week…

The local Wreaths Across America effort is experiencing a bit of a Christmas miracle.

Tawnya Tucker, the local Wreaths Across America coordinator for the Wayne County Veterans and Patriots Coalition, provided an update during a call in to Jeff Farrow’s Morning Show on Goldsboro’s Greatest Hits.

She says they’ve now received enough sponsorships to place wreaths on the approximately 1,100 veteran graves at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

The goal was to lay wreaths on the veteran graves at Eastern Carolina State Veterans and Evergreen Memorial cemeteries.

That means a total of over 1,700 wreaths needed sponsorship.

Tucker says today (Thursday, December 2) is the FINAL DAY for sponsoring a wreath and helping to fill the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Wreaths can be sponsored at WreathsAcrossAmerica.org/nc0149.

The wreaths will be placed in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 12 PM on December 18th and in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery at 3 PM on December 18th

The public is invited to take part in the wreath laying ceremony, which will be held at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on December 18th at 12 PM.
