Mrs. Agnes “Snag” Kannan of Goldsboro, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2021, at the age of 96.

A native of Goldsboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Magdalene Hallow and the widow of James C. Kannan, Jr. She was retired as a budget analyst for the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs at Seymour Johnson AFB. After her retirement, she served as a volunteer in many organizations.

She was an avid tennis player until she was 90. She also loved cooking, entertaining, Tarheel Basketball and Atlanta Braves Baseball, but most of all being with her family and friends.

Snag was a faithful and lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a generous and gracious woman who loved helping others. She will be remembered for the love she shared during her well-lived life.

Snag is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Jurick and her husband John of Tybee Island, GA; JoAnn Birrell and her husband Dave of Marietta, GA; her sister, Josephine Barnes of Greenville, NC; her brother, George “Jello” Hallow and his wife, Judy of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Walker and her husband Brandon of Tybee Island, GA, John Kannan Jurick and his wife Taryn of Savannah, GA, Joseph Jurick and his wife Megan of Savannah, GA; three great-grandchildren, Lindy Walker, James and Mason Jurick; two step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Hallow Rice and two brothers, Joseph Hallow, Jr. and Louis Hallow.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 beginning at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to St. Mary Church, 1603 Edgerton Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
