November 17, 2021, 84, Mount Olive –

Mr. Morris Edward Herring, 84, resident of the Indian Springs community near Mount Olive, passed away Wednesday morning, November 17, 2021, at his home.

Mr. Herring attended Mount Olive College and N.C. State University. He also attended N.C. Military Academy at Fort Bragg, receiving a commission as Second Lieutenant. He worked with Mt. Olive Pickle Company as production manager for 16 years, with Boling Company as personnel director for four years, with the remaining 30 years of his working life spent as owner/operator of Mount Olive Used Cars, Inc.

Mr. Herring is survived by a son, Eddie Herring; and a grandson, Brandon Herring.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Sawyer Herring; a son, John Charles “Chuck” Herring; his parents, Johnnie and Sydell Garner Herring; a brother, Marvin Herring; and two sisters, Hazel H. Heath and Laurie H. Best.

Mr. Herring was quietly laid to rest in the Herring Family Cemetery in a private setting
