Darlene Austin, 84, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Brookdale Country Day Road. Born in Hamburg, Iowa on July 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late James Choate and Frances Jennings Choate. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph E. “Joe” Austin, Jr.

Darlene is survived by her daughters, Kim Davis and Maria Price; son, James Austin and wife, Mi; daughter-in-law, Pat Prentice-Austin; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Darlene was a home-body, she loved the comforts of her home and took great solace working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed crocheting and made countless beautiful afghans for her family and friends. The family was paramount to Darlene and she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Darlene retired from Central Supply at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was a dedicated and faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Darlene worshipped at Walker Memorial United Methodist Church.

A service to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Walker Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Sherman Guthrie and Pastor Barry Weyant officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
