Dennis Young Newcomb, 75, of Princeton passed away at the SECU Hospice House on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.  He was born August 31, 1946 to the late Lecko Young Newcomb and Flonnie Glover Newcomb.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Ethel Weaver, Margaret Martin and Ruby Cooke and brother, Bill Newcomb.

Dennis was a native of Johnston County.  He retired from NC DOT, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic.  After retirement, he worked with Casey Funeral Home and Cremations and also with Casey’s Floral and Catering Service.  He is a member of Tee’s Chapel FWB Church.  He served his country in the US Marine Corps.  He was a Charter Member of the Princeton Rescue Squad and was a member of the Princeton Fire Department.  He was a longtime employee of Cherry Hospital before going to NC DOT.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Shirley Aycock Newcomb; daughters, Sherri Newcomb Peedin and husband, Michael of Sylvania, GA, and Connie Newcomb Lassiter and husband, Michael Wayne of Princeton; brothers, Paul Newcomb and wife, Sarah Francis of Pine Level and Bruce Newcomb and wife, Joan of Pikeville; 5 grandchildren, Megan Peedin, Daniel Peedin, Emily Peedin, Jonathan Peedin and Hunter Lassiter; special friends, Donald Ray and Christine Crumpler, Joyce Pittman and Marcell Allen.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

The funeral will be on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with the Reverend Dennis Pollock officiating. The committal will be immediately following the funeral in the Tee’s Chapel Church Cemetery with the following pallbearers serving, Elton Aycock, Ray Aycock, Donald Weaver, Jackey Martin, Billy Ray Radford, and Donald Evans.  Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Aycock, Johnny Liles, Justin Aycock, Matt Aycock, Pete Hollowell, and Curtis Hollowell

Although flowers are welcome, the family suggest that contributions be made to Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 6439 Brogden Road, Smithfield, NC  28577.
