Suspect Accused Of Attempted Murder For Slocumb Street Shooting

(GDN) — Just before 3:30 PM on Tuesday, the Goldsboro Police Department was dispatched to the 800 block of S. Slocumb Street in reference to a Shot Spotter alert. When officers arrived, they found 37-year-old Jamethon C. Howard of Goldsboro with of an apparent gunshot wound to the head in the front yard area of a residence. EMS workers arrived and began life saving measures on the victim. He was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care and later flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. The Criminal Investigations Division and the Crime Scene Unit personnel responded and initiated an investigation.

Goldsboro Police officers from several different divisions and deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to maintain crime scene integrity and manage the large crowd that assembled near the scene. 

The preliminary investigation revealed there was an altercation between Howard and the male resident of the home, 47-year-old Parrish R. Hagans. During the altercation, Hagans allegedly shot Howard. Hagans has been charged with Attempted Murder.  He is in the custody of the Wayne County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond.  

Howard’s current condition was not known as of Tuesday evening.
