Mrs. Georgia Lee Rouse Grady, age 89, passed away early Friday morning, November 12, 2021 in the comfortable surroundings of her home.

Her family welcomes friends and neighbors to the Grady residence on Sunday afternoon, November 14, from 2 until 4 p.m. to share condolences. The home address is 796 White Flash Road, Mount Olive. A service of remembrance will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial gifts be made to Garner’s Chapel Baptist Church, c/o Julie Beck, 543 Bell Avenue, Mount Olive, NC 28365.

Mrs. Grady, born in Lenoir County and having graduated from B. F. Grady High School, at her marriage to Durham Grady, she became a resident of the White Flash Community near Mount Olive. She was a farmer’s wife and an excellent homemaker. She gained training to become a licensed practical nurse and was employed for many years at Duplin General Hospital. A member of Garner’s Chapel Church, she had been a choir member in years gone by.

Her surviving family includes a daughter, Pam Grady Brewer of Mount Olive; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul Durham Grady, Jr. and Gale Bostic Grady of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Holly Grady Edwards and husband, Richard, of Clinton, Meghan Brewer Best and husband, Will, of Mount Olive, and John Paul Grady and wife, Chelsie, of Mount Olive; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey Edwards of Clinton, Lily Best, Presley Best, and Carrie Nell Grady, all of Mount Olive; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Lucille Rouse of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Lonnie H. and Nina Rouse of Dudley, and Perry Barwick, Jr. and Bettye Barwick of Carolina Beach; and several nieces and nephews.

Loved ones whom she joins in death are her husband, Paul Durham Grady, Sr.; a son-in-law, Phil Brewer; her father, Edward Earl Rouse; her mother, Virginia “Dodger” Hardy Rouse Barwick; and her step-father, Perry Barwick, Sr.

The family gratefully acknowledges her team of devoted care givers who had a constant presence with her, allowing her to remain in her home throughout her long journey of home confinement. Especially noted is Mary Booker, who for the entire 12 years, was there until recently. Also, they appreciate Renee, Kendall, Debbie, Colleen, Christina, and all the others who have graciously provided companionship and care.
