Edith Faye Yelverton Head was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. She was born in Greene County on October 18, 1939 to the late Marvin and Bonnie Belle Shingleton Yelverton. Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Mercel “Bud” Head.

Faye was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Goldsboro. She was devoted to her church, served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.

Her life was filled with humility, kindness and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled. Faye dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord.

A graveside service to celebrate Faye’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021 at the Stantonsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Faye is survived by her children, Keith Head (Terry), Pam Stafford (Wade), and Gary Head (Kim); grandchildren, Heather Gray, Austin Head, and Blaine Stafford (Morgan); great-grandchild, Nora Stafford and was anticipating the birth of a great-grandson in February. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Yelverton.
