Pauline Barnes Vanderburg, 74, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Wayne UNC Health Care. Born in Wilson County on January 3, 1947, she was the daughter of the late J.P. and Rachel Perry Barnes.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Terry Charles Vanderburg and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Barnes.

Pauline is survived by her daughter, Paula Aycock and husband, Russell; grandchildren, Rusty Aycock and wife, Amber, Sarah Aycock, and Olivia Aycock; sister, Betty Barnes; brothers, John Barnes and wife, Patsy, Ray Barnes and wife, Libby, Kent Barnes, and Ricky Barnes and wife, Lesley; and several nieces and nephews.

Pauline retired from Wayne Memorial Hospital where she managed the gift shop for many years. She was a dedicated and faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Pauline worshipped at Union Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in Fremont.

Pauline had an artistic gift like no other. She was a talented painter, loved to draw, and created the most unique crafts. Pauline enjoyed sewing and was proficient with her needle and thread. A trip to the mountains was always a highlight for Pauline, she enjoyed taking in the mountain air and admiring God’s creation. Christmastime was her favorite time of the year. She enjoyed every aspect of Christmas, decorating, buying gifts, fellowship with her loved ones, and celebrating the birth of her Savior. Family was paramount to Pauline, she enjoyed being part of a close-knit, loving and caring family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Pauline’s life in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. John Massengill officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Park.
