Patricia Ann Dawson, 77, passed away peacefully Nov. 7, 2021, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Caesar and Sally Lassiter Dawson, and brother Sherman Fields. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Eliza Fields; niece, Jennifer Reeves and husband, Sam, and great-nephew, Luke; and several cousins.

After graduating from Wheat Swamp High School in 1962, Ann continued her education at Chowan and Atlantic Christian Colleges earning degrees in business and elementary education.

Ann’s teaching career began in Hampton, Virginia before returning to Kinston to continue teaching in Lenoir and Wayne Counties.

Ann’s love of history and travel took her to many European Countries. She never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone.

Ann was a faithful member of Queen Street United Methodist Church, and she loved her church family.

Family and friends would like to thank Drs. Gallagher, Pradeep, and Qadir, 4th-floor nursing staff at UNC Lenoir Healthcare, and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the excellent care she received.

Thanks to those who visited, called, prayed, sent cards, food, or flowers. Ann appreciated each act of kindness.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Nov. 10, 2021, at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 4488W. Vernon Avenue, Kinston with Rev. Karl Grant officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
