Marjorie “Margie” Bass West, age 86, passed away Monday morning at her residence. Born in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late George William Bass and Nola Branch Bass and wife of the late Nubert West. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, George Bass, David Bass, and James Bass, and sister, Virginia Potter. Margie was a former member of the Clingman Street Church of God.

A service to celebrate Margie’s life will be held Thursday evening at 6:00 pm in the Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. A committal service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery.

Margie is survived by her daughter, Linda West Byerly and her husband, Dwight; her sons, Jerry Ray West, George “Randy” West and Larry Glenn West and his wife, Rosa; a sister, Shirley Justice; two grandchildren, Kevin Ray Byerly and Heather Marie Johnson; and four great-grandchildren, Wesley, Kurtis, Justice and Bentley Johnson.
