James Allen Dixon

November 5, 2021, 59, Goldsboro –

James Allen Dixon, 59, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 5, 2021, at his home. Although his departure from this life was unexpected and seems unfair, his welcome in Heaven had been prepared and his arrival was no less grand beyond compare.

Jim was born in Camp Springs, Maryland on April 11, 1962 to James Glenn Dixon of Goldsboro and the late Mary Elizabeth Summerlin Dixon. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. As a resident of this area all his life, he worked many years as a registered nurse and was currently working with Cherry Hospital. Nursing was his life’s work and his compassion for others set him apart.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Jim’s life at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

In addition to his father, Jim is survived by his sisters, Sandra Sanderson and husband, Rick of Sneads Ferry and Donna Gupton and husband, Terry of Powder Springs, GA; nieces and nephews, Eric Sanderson, Shelley Whitcomb and husband, Josh, Stuart Moody and husband, Dale, Garrett Gupton and wife, Allison, Olivia Roberson and husband, Nevin; and great-nieces and nephews, Cash Whitcomb, Sophie Whitcomb, Mary Hazel Moody, Frances B. Moody and Cameron Kyle Gupton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in his memory to the Wayne County Animal Shelter, 1600 Clingman Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
