Cross Country: Goldsboro’s Bass Wins 2A East Regional

Goldsboro’s Jay Bass continues to put up impressive times.

At the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A East Regional meet held at the Lenoir County Fairgrounds, Bass finished in first place with a time of 16 minutes, 45 seconds.

Spring Creek’s Dustin Wise came in ninth with a time of 18 minutes, 13 seconds.

The Cougars’ Ayobami Ajagbe was 28th overall with a time of 19:48. Princeton’s Cameron Daughtry (20:31) was 39th. Wise’s teammate Bertin Avilez (21:10) finished in 46th.

As a team, Goldsboro finished in eighth, while Spring Creek came in ninth. South Lenoir came in first place.

Bass and Wise will represent their schools as the 2A state championship meet on Nov. 6.

On the girls’ side, Princeton Kinsely Botkin (21:44) finished in tenth, while Goldsboro Carly Court (22:33) wound up in 18th.

Princeton came in seventh as team, while Camden County won the girls’ meet.
