Mildred Verna Lyerly, 101, of Goldsboro passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at home.

A private entombment will be held at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. 

Mrs. Lyerly was born in Cabarrus County on February 1, 1920 to the late Richard and Eva Wagoner Hammill. She was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Carl W. Lyerly Jr. of Raleigh; one grandson, Christopher Benton Lyerly (Melissa Eason) of LaGrange; one sister, Jean Whitley of Charlotte and one daughter-in-law, Yvonne Benton Smith of LaGrange.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lyerly was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Whitson Lyerly Sr.; one son, Richard Lewis Lyerly and a host of brothers and sisters.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
