UPDATE: Suspect Jailed Without Bond For Mother’s Murder

Around 8 AM on Thursday, the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the 200 block of Rosewood Avenue in the Seymour Homes housing development on a “check welfare” call.  Officers entered a residence and found two individuals, a female and male, on the floor.  53-year-old Towanda Jones of Goldsboro appeared to be deceased and 33-year-old DeCarlos Jones had injuries consistent with being self-inflicted.  EMS performed life-saving measures on the male and transported him to Wayne UNC Health Care for treatment.  The female was pronounced deceased.  The GPD’s Criminal Investigations Division and the Crime Scene Unit responded and started an investigation.  The investigation revealed the deceased is the mother of the injured male found at the residence.  A warrant for the arrest of DeCarlos Jones for the murder of Towanda Jones was issued.  DeCarlos Jones is currently in police custody and he will be taken before the magistrate once treatment for his injuries is complete.

UPDATE: After 8 PM on Thursday, DeCarlos Jones was taken before the Wayne County Magistrate and formally served and charged with an open count of Murder in the death of Towanda Jones. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail without bond.
