Richard Clayton Wise, 62, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Wayne County on October 8, 1958, he was the son of Ann Parks Thornton and the late Billy Lee Wise.

Richard is survived by his mother and step-father, Ann Parks Thornton and Billy A. Thornton; daughter, Sarah Wise Aycock and husband, Rhett; son, Mark Thomas Wise; grandson, Dean Aycock; sister, Lisa Thornton Cerasi and husband, Michael; and a special uncle and aunt, Bud and Kay Waters.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Cherry Hospital where he worked as a health care tech.

A service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held by the graveside at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Walter Sloan officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
