October 5, 2021, 85, Goldsboro –

Hilda Carter West, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 surrounded by her family. A native of Greene County, she was born June 11, 1936, the daughter of the late Harold and Delia Taylor Carter.

Hilda was a dedicated and faithful member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church. She had worked as manager of Woolworth’s and also at Wachovia Bank.

A service to celebrate her life will be held by the graveside at Snow Hill Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021 with Rev. Barry Williamson and Rev. Dr. Josh Whitfield officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

Surviving is her husband of 67 years, Robert Carey West; daughters, Phyllis Brock and husband, Mike and Kimberly Taylor and husband, Randy; grandchildren, Kassidy Taylor, Dylan Smith, Taylor Mitchell and husband, Joseph, and Emily Brock; great-grandson, Wyatt Mitchell; and sisters, Kaye Raper and Mary Alice Murphy.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Community Home Care and Hospice, especially Sheila Small who provided exemplary care to Hilda. They would also like to thank Deborah Medlin for the loving and compassionate care she provided Hilda in the last several weeks.
