Alice Faye Cox Smith, 81, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.

A native of Wayne County, Faye was born on January 21, 1940, one of six children, to the late William Ruffus Cox and Lillie Frances Hall Cox. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Durwood Ray Smith.

Faye was a member of United In Christ Church. She dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord. Faye was always on call to give an encouraging word or helping hand. She enjoyed life, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Faye’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Ira Williford officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery.

Faye is survived by her son, Mike Smith and wife Karen of Pikeville; granddaughters, Amanda Smith and Kristin Render and husband Walter; great-grandchildren, Kynleigh Render and Kollyns Render; sisters, Carole Bartee and Joyce Johnson; brothers, John Cox and wife Rhonda and Eddis Gerald “Boo” Cox and wife Norika; and her sisters-in-law, Margie Tyner, Dorothy Holloman and Faye Smith.
