Goldsboro 12, Beddingfield 7

Goldsboro snapped its three-game slide with a 12-7 victory against Beddingfield in the Neuse Six 2A Conference opener for both teams. The Cougars (2-4 overall, 1-0 NSC) continue Neuse Six 2A Conference play on Friday when they travel to undefeated Princeton (5-0, 1-0).

Rosewood 55, Hobbton 28

After not playing a game since Sept. 2, Rosewood finally got back on the field against Hobbton. The Eagles showed no signs of rust as they flew over the Wildcats 55-28 in Carolina 1A Conference play. Rosewood is now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Rosewood next hosts 2A powerhouse Wallace-Rose Hill (5-1) on Friday.

Hunt 56, Southern Wayne 0

Southern Wayne dropped its Quad County 3A Conference opener against Hunt 56-0. The Saints drop to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Southern Wayne will look to bounce back against East Wake (2-3, 1-1) on Tuesday.

South Johnston 36, C.B. Aycock 35

C.B. Aycock had a 27-14 lead at the end of the first quarter against South Johnston. However, South Johnston scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to come back and stun the Golden Falcons 36-35. C.B. Aycock falls to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in Quad County 3A Conference play. C.B. Aycock will look to get its first win of the season against Fike (3-2, 1-2) on Friday.

Wayne Christian 44, Bethel Christian 8

Shiquan Ethridge rushed for 223 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles dominated Bethel Christian 44-8. Ethridge also caught one pass for 56 yards and a touchdown, while Michael Mills ran for 86 yards and one touchdown. With the win, Wayne Christian improves to 3-3 overall and travels to Northeast Academy (0-2) on Friday.
