Paula Perkins Waters

Paula Perkins Waters

September 28, 2021, 69, Goldsboro –

Paula Perkins Waters, 69, went to be with her heavenly father on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Paula was born in Wayne County on January 20, 1952 to the late Walter James Perkins, Jr. and Virginia Taylor Perkins.

She is a 1970 graduate from Charles B. Aycock. After completing her B.S. degree in English from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Paula became a beloved teacher with the Wayne County Public Schools where she devoted her life to children for 36 years. She also completed her Master of Library Science from East Carolina University in 1997; where she also received an Outstanding Library Science Award. She was a Magna Cum Laude for both undergraduate and master’s degree. Paula expressed love for her Savior in many ways. She was a faithful supporter of the ministry at Rosewood First Baptist Church where she was an avid member of the choir and several church committees.

Though Paula accomplished so much and blessed so many people in countless ways, she would probably say her greatest accomplishment surely would be her three sons. They would tell you that having such a godly, loving, kind, compassionate, strong, yet gentle mother was one of the greatest blessings of their lives.

Paula was a beautiful person whose loving spirit and ever present smile radiated the joy she experienced in living every day of her life. Paula was devoted to her community and heavily involved in the Rosewood Booster Club during her children’s years of sports. She was deeply devoted to her family and was happiest when she was spending time with them. In her recent battle with her health, she was a constant inspiration, and those who knew her will always remember her joy in living, her laughter, her positive attitude, her caring and loving ways and of course, her courage. We were lucky to have Paula in our lives and the world will be a sadder place without her.

Paula is survived by her husband, Ronald Waters; sons, Ron Waters, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Brad Waters and wife, Jaime, and Lee Waters and wife, Heather; sisters, Mary Helen Perkins Weeks and husband, Neil and Donna Perkins Braswell and husband, David, brother, Jimmy Perkins, III, and wife, Faye; and her grandchildren Anna, Conner, Lainey, Marlowe, Maddox, Barrett, and Macie.

A service to celebrate Paula’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Rosewood First Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Braswell and Rev. Mike Collier officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday in the Family Life Center at Rosewood First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Debt Retirement Fund at Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 NC 581 S, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
