Cross Country: Golden Falcons Fly Away With Boys’ Portion Of Conference Meet

The C.B. Aycock boys turned in a dominating performance during a Quad County 3A Conference cross country meet Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Falcons had seven runners finish in the top 10. Todd Gardner secured first place in 19 minutes, 38 seconds. Matt Stout (19:56) wound in second place, while Curtis Simmons secured third in 20:13.

Nate Mumford (20:44), Aiden Barrett (20:47), Breydon Stevens (21:25) and Stephen Beli (21:45) finished in fourth, fifth, eighth and tenth, respectively.

Southern Wayne’s Jabari Persall was the Saints’ top runner. Persall completed the course in 21 minutes, 29 seconds.

C.B. Aycock compiled 15 points. Fike seized second with 58 points, followed by Wilson with 81 points.

C.B. Aycock finished with a team score of 33, which was 11 points behind first-place Fike. Southern Wayne compiled 86 points to come in third, while Hunt wound up in fourth with 104 points.

Southern Wayne’s duo of Elainer Lane (29:19) and LeHussa St. Julien (29:25) placed among the top 15 on the day.
