Next Round Of Downtown Sculptures to Be Unveiled Oct. 15

New art will adorn Downtown Goldsboro.

It’s that time of year when the sculptures along Center Street are swapped out for a new round of public art.

Downtown Development Director Eric Fonseca talked about the program and presented the selected sculptures to the Goldsboro City Council this month.

Fonseca says changing the art out annually creates interest and adds talking points in the downtown.

Leasing the art also reduces the upfront costs and long term maintenance costs compared to purchasing the pieces.

The city’s Public Art Steering Committee helped select the nine sculptures after looking at over 200 comments submitted by citizens.

Fonseca says the new sculptures always add “a great deal of interest and buzz.”

A installation ceremony greeting the new public art will be held in Downtown Goldsboro on October 15th at 12 PM.
