Hazel Smith Gillis, 90, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Wayne UNC Health Care. Born in Allendale, South Carolina on January 4, 1931 to the late R.E. Smith and Annie Hall Smith.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Gillis.

Hazel is survived by her sons, Paul Gillis, II and Jon Gillis and wife, Carol; grandsons, Jason Gillis and wife, Nicole and Bradley Gillis; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service to celebrate Hazel’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. John Howard officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Meals On Wheels of Wayne County, 601 Royall Avenue, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
