Doris Katherine McClenny Hardison, 68, Calypso area resident, passed away Wednesday morning, September 22, 2021, at her home.

Kathy was a member of Calypso Presbyterian Church and had recently been attending Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church. With a heart for serving others, she had been a member of Mount Olive Rescue Squad in earlier years, was a member of Calypso Fire Department, the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Association, Faison Fire and Rescue, and served with Duplin County Emergency Medical Services. She had also been employed with the Young Squire, Sonoco, and Boling Chair companies, and spent several years keeping the neighborhood children at her home.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Ellis Elmore Hardison, Jr., of the home; a son, DeWayne Hardison and wife, Angel, of Dudley; two daughters, Jillneal Cotton and husband, Chris, of Nahunta, and Jessica Gardner and husband, Tyler, of Goldsboro; six grandchildren, Amber Austin Hardison, Noah Hardison, Hunter and Haley Cotton, Jayden and Adalynn Gardner; brothers, Tommy McClenny and wife, Linda, of Clinton, and John and Deani Hardison of Mount Olive; sisters, Jane Jackson of Clinton, Pat Holland and husband, Paul, of Mount Olive, Susan Pearsall and husband, Bryan, of Dudley, and Jennifer Martin and husband, Jerry, of Grantham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Doris P. McClenny; brothers, Edward and Earl McClenny; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ellis and Sudie Hardison.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 25, at 10 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Jeff Dail and the Rev. Bill Cotton, followed by burial at Wayne Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday, September 24, from 7 until 9 p.m., and at other times, the family will be at the residence. Flowers are welcome, and memorial gifts to N.C. Association of Fire and Rescue would be appreciated as well.
