Mount Olive Commissioner Hoping To Send Bottled Water To Help Flooding Victims

An effort in Mount Olive will send bottled water to disaster areas in the South.

Town of Mount Olive Commissioner Vicky Darden is trying to fill a truck with the bottled H2O and plans to send it to flooding areas in either Texas or Mississippi.

Darden says she was reminded of living through a tornado in the 80s when she realized the need to help others struggling in the aftermath of a natural disaster.

She’s been trying to get the truck filled and “down the road” since May.

The truck is only about half filled, and is located at the Mount Olive Fire Department.

Darden says she loves helping others, whether they be in Mount Olive or other areas of the country.

She says, “Where ever I see a need, I help.”

Those wishing to make a donation – either bottled water or monetary – can contact Darden at 919-658-3961.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Mount Olive Town Hall.
