Goldsboro’s Jay Bass claimed a first-place finish during the boys’ portion of a Neuse Six 2A Conference cross country meet on Wednesday afternoon held at Northston High School.
Bass completed the course in 19 minutes, 21 seconds. Goldsboro had five runners – Ayobami Ajabge (23:39), Jacob Mousseua (23:52), Joshua Lawhorn 25:22), Alex Bruno (25:23) – finish in the top ten.
Spring Creek’s Dustin Wise (21:02) came in second place, while Wise’s teammates Jacob Lynch (23:50) wound up in fifth place.
On the girls’ side, Goldsboro’s Carly Court emerged as the top runner with a time of 24 minutes, 22 seconds. Court’s teammates Katie Wagner (29:01) and Karen Compeanthrom (31:44) finished in fourth and ninth, respectively.
