September 15, 2021, 81, Pikeville –

Lou Ann Bridgers, 81 of Pikeville went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at her home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  Interment will follow at Pikeville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bridgers was born in Wayne County on February 1, 1940 to the late Leon and Margaret Howard Aycock.  She was a faithful member of Union Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in Fremont having served on the Ladies Auxiliary and in the children’s nursery.  She enjoyed cooking for her family every Sunday after church.  She had a gift for baking cakes, canning her fresh vegetables, gardening, crocheting and quilting.   Mrs. Bridgers loved traveling and attending her grandchildren’s baseball and football games when her health permitted.

She is survived by her loving husband, Walter F. Bridgers; her children, Dean Bridgers and wife, Stephanie of Pikeville and Jannell Bridgers Tucker and husband, Ken of Pikeville; her brother, E.L. Aycock and wife, Barbara Aycock of Pikeville; three grandchildren, Chase Tucker, Cullen Tucker and Landon Bridgers and a host of other children whose lives she
touched.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bridgers was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Rose Aycock.
