Thomas Joseph Basto, known to most as Tommy, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at Lenoir UNC Hospital in Kinston.

Tommy was employed as a manager with Carolina V Twin. He volunteered his auctioneering talents for charity events, and he enjoyed selling cars. He was vice president of Down East Mis Fits and was called “Shamrock” within the group.

Tommy is survived by his son, Brennon Eli Knowles of Mount Olive; his father, Joseph Thomas Basto of Kinston; brothers, Joseph T. Basto, Jr. and wife, Jill, of Florida, and Anthony J. Basto and wife, Ann Jessica, of New York; sisters, Deanna Casper and Chandra Garrow and husband, Kevin, Areanna Basto, and Jennifer Bashant and husband, Rich, all of New York.

A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held Sunday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Building, 403 St. Andrews Drive in Greenville.
