Verna Chapman Mullinax

September 3, 2021, 77, Goldsboro –

Verna Chapman Mullinax, 77, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021, entering the house of our Lord. Verna was born in Leiston, Suffolk, England to the late Victor Edward Chapman and Agnes Ivy Bloomfield Chapman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Christopher Mullinax, her brother Roy Chapman, and two sisters, Peggy Chapman Goldsmith and Wendy Chapman Tricker. She is survived by her son and his wife Richard Mullinax and Rebekah Murphy Mullinax, daughter and her husband Patricia Ann Mullinax Porcella and Joe Porcella, one grandson and his partner Christopher Chapman Mullinax and Katherine Alizo, two granddaughters Dorothy Blackwell Mullinax and her partner Tyler Klotz, and Isabel Ann Porcella, and one sister Jackie Chapman Neave.

Verna did not seek nor desire a flamboyant lifestyle. She lived a serene life of devotion – knitting, crocheting, writing, and drawing – and occasionally traveling to England. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and they with her as she gabbed away in her English accent that was never lost as she sat nibbling on her chocolates while sipping her tea. A woman of deep religious faith and conviction, she was a devoted member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary and a Lay Carmelite.
