Cross Country: C.B. Aycock Boys Win Inaugural Quad County Meet

Teammates Matthew Stout and Seth Lupton crossed the finish line second and sixth, respectively, and the C.B. Aycock boys’ cross country team emerged as the top team in its 3A Quad County Conference opener Wednesday afternoon.

Stout ran the 5k course in 19 minutes, 26 seconds. Lupton completed the course in 20 minutes, 51 seconds. Teammates Aidan Barrett (20:54), Curtis Simmons (20:59) and Nate Mumford (21:38) claimed seventh, eighth and ninth.

Dyland Tyndall of Southern Wayne secured 17th place in the boys’ race with a time of 23:23.

C.B. Aycock compiled 32 points, followed by Smithfield-Selma (74), Fike (98) and West Johnston (98)

Fike won the girls’ team portion in dominating fashion, with four runners placing among the top 10. The Southern Wayne girls wound up in fourth place, with Elaina Lane (29:59) finishing in 18th.

C.B. Aycock’s Alyssa Howell claimed 12th in 28:14. Teammate Ashlyn Johnson came in 14th.
