September 7, 2021, 60, Princeton –

Barbara Denise Newcomb Hooks, 60, of Princeton, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Denise was born in Wake County on February 17, 1961 to Elizabeth Joann Bridgers Medlin and the late Bobby Edgar Newcomb.

In addition to her mother, Denise is survived by her loving husband, Timothy Wayne Hooks of 40 years; stepfather, Donald Medlin; sons, Marcus Wayne Hooks and wife Jennifer of Kenly, and Roy Justin Hooks and wife Ashleigh of Kenly; grandchildren, Emma Bryleigh Hooks, Eden Juliet Hooks, and Ella Grayce Hooks; sister, Dena G. Parrish of Raleigh and several other family and friends.  

Denise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a faithful member of the Rosewood Church of God where she was involved in women’s ministries and special singing. She enjoyed her career as a licensed practical nurse working at the Urgent Care in Smithfield, and walking the beach making many memories, but most importantly spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. She will surely be missed, but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel with Reverend Richard Franklin officiating. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations in Princeton. The committal service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Kenly Cemetery and all are welcome to attend.
