Mount Olive – The University of Mount Olive Trojans fell to Anderson University 3-2 in non-conference action on Saturday night. The contest was delayed for more than an hour from its scheduled start time due to lightning.
INSIDE THE SCORE
In the opening half, Anderson began with the momentum as Anderson blasted home goals in the 19th and 40th minutes while holding UMO scoreless.
Anderson took a 2-0 advantage into the break.
Mount Olive in the 70th minute finally broke through as Glen Hernandez cut Anderson’s lead down to 2-1.
However, Anderson responded just over 12 minutes later with its third goal of the game and increased its lead back up to two goals.
UMO had a scoring chance just 30 seconds later when Rio Mellow was given a penalty kick opportunity. Mellow converted the attempt to cut the deficit down to 3-2.
Following the goal, Mount Olive had two more chances to find the equalizer, but the Trojans were unable to do so and fell at home 3-2.

The Trojans were led by Hernandez and Mellow who both had a goal in the game.
ANDERSON LEADERS
Anderson was led by Alexander Cox-Ashwood who scored two of Anderson’s three goals in the match.
KEY MOMENT
The determining factor in the match was Anderson’s third goal in the second half, and UMO did not have enough time to tie the match.
