Holiday Weekend Fire Damages Mount Olive Town Hall

Some Town of Mount Olive employees have temporarily been relocated following a blaze at the Town Hall.  The early Monday morning fire at Mount Olive Town Hall left areas of the building heavily damaged.  Mount Olive Fire Chief Greg Wiggins tells GoldsboroDailyNews.com they were fortunate because the blaze was mainly contained to the town secretary’s office and lobby areas thanks to closed doors throughout the building. However, there is smoke damage throughout the building. Chief Wiggins says the damage is estimated at about $100,000. Wiggins says the fire was accidental and was possibly electrical in nature. Some of the town’s employees will be able to resume work in town hall in the coming days, but they’ll be utilizing different available office space in the facility.
