City’s Water Treatment Temporarily Switches To Free Chlorine For Disinfection

The City of Goldsboro’s Water Treatment Plant has ceased feeding ammonia and is converting to free chlorine for disinfection. The city announced on Saturday it will discontinue the feed for a brief maintenance period and notification will occur before switching back to chloramines. Free chlorine is a much stronger disinfectant than chloramines and this conversion is implemented to further safeguard Goldsboro’s water supply. Anyone with questions or concerns about this conversion can contact the Water Treatment Plant at 919-734-3757.
