The City of Goldsboro’s Water Treatment Plant has ceased feeding ammonia and is converting to free chlorine for disinfection. The city announced on Saturday it will discontinue the feed for a brief maintenance period and notification will occur before switching back to chloramines. Free chlorine is a much stronger disinfectant than chloramines and this conversion is implemented to further safeguard Goldsboro’s water supply.
