In the 31st year of Taste of Wayne County, the United Way of Wayne County finds itself with the difficult decision to cancel this loved and well known event.
United Way of Wayne County announced on Tuesday the Board of Directors have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Taste of Wayne County event. It came after much discussion over the COVID-19 variant has been increasing positive cases across the county for the past few weeks.
“We have considered multiple factors in this decision to cancel and a major one is the safety and health of our community members. Another is the burden the restaurants of Wayne County have endured during the COVID-19 pandemic. Supply is delayed and restaurants are short manned, it’s just one more thing we didn’t want the restaurant owners and staff to worry about.” Said Ashlee Fritz, the Resource Development Director with United Way of Wayne County.
