Roger Dean Price, at the age of 70, passed away early Wednesday morning, Sept. 1, 2021, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

Dean was a native of the Pricetown community near Seven Springs. Upon his high school graduation, he embarked on his dreams of becoming a cowboy, and relocated to the San Antonio, Texas area where he lived for 38 years. There he was a life member of the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo, and in 1987, he joined the Ambassador Committee and later, the Trail Ride Committee. Dean loved his trail riding family and served as trail master of the Old Chisholm Trail Drivers and was trail boss of the Sand Hill Trail Riders. Not only did Dean enjoy horses and horse riding, he was also an avid motorcycle rider.

Dean had also been owner, operator, and developer of several small business entities through the years. Several years ago, he returned to the Wayne County area, though his heart remained in Texas.

Dean is survived by his beloved Jaci Wheat of Nixon, Texas; two brothers, Brent Price of Seven Springs, and Terry Price with wife, Wendy Tucker Price, of Dudley; two nephews, Paul Price, and Joseph Price with wife, Tammy, all of Seven Springs; and an aunt, Judy Garris Mauldin of Hickory.He also leaves behind many Texan friends and also many friends, those in both his horse riding circles and his Harley Davidson riding family.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Roger Price, and his mother and step-father, Bobbie Whitley Price Cox and Samuel M. Cox.

Graveside services will be Saturday, September 4, at 10 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery near Seven Springs. Officiating will be the Rev. Ashley Summerlin.
The family will greet friends at the cemetery after the service, and at other times at the home of Brent Price.
