Unemployment is down in Wayne County.  According to figures released Wednesday by the N.C. Department of Commerce, Wayne County’s seasonally unadjusted jobless rate fell to 4.9% in July, down from the 5.2% unemployment rate recorded in June.  Nearly 2,500 people were considered unemployed in Wayne County in July according to the latest numbers.  When compared to this time last year, Wayne County’s jobless rate is drastically improved from the 8.1% rate seen in July of 2020.
