Two Goldsboro Schools Placed In Brief “Soft Lockdown” Due To Nearby Police Activity

Two Wayne County Public Schools were briefly locked down as a safety precaution Wednesday.  WCPS sent out a message informing parents of children enrolled at North Drive Elementary and Edgewood Community Developmental School that both schools were temporarily placed in a “Soft Lockdown” due to law enforcement activity in a neighborhood near the schools.  A soft lockdown means instruction and movement inside the building continues, while exterior doors remain locked and all outdoor activities canceled. The soft lockdown was lifted by Wednesday afternoon.
