Jayda Jean Rouse

Jayda Jean Rouse

August 26, 2021, 4, La Grange –

With full confidence in the love of Christ Jesus, Jayda Jean Rouse, 4, accepted His invitation to enter into new life eternal in the Heavens where there is no more sickness, grief, or pain. Sown in weakness, yet raised in power, Jayda’s long-term goal of being able to walk has now become reality as she experiences perfection in life with her Lord.

Born in Lenoir County on May 18, 2017, Jayda was the pride and joy of Desmond Rouse and Katherine Radford. She lived a life full of love with her five siblings, grandparents, and many friends that doted on her with love and care.

Although born with conditions that complicated her life, Jayda was never one to complain about her circumstances. Very independent, she was determined to do everything herself if she was capable. She strived to be helpful to her family, and putting a smile on your face was always her ultimate goal.

Jayda adored Disney princesses, and her absolute favorites were Elsa and Anna from Frozen. Whether playing dress up or going out for the day, her go-to attire was a replica of Anna’s dress. She knew all the words to each song, and could belt out the lyrics without reserve each time she watched the Frozen movies. The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl often played on television, and Jayda adored the lead character, Guppy. Jayda’s “Poppy” often told her to use her “shark strength” to fight her battles.

Playing with her siblings and friends was the best of pastimes for Jayda. She’d take any chance she had to play, especially if it involved water. She loved to eat, but her tastebuds preferred snacks over meals, and chips were the absolute best.

At bedtime each night, Jayda looked forward to the comfort of her mommy’s voice. As she prepared for bed, her mommy would snuggle close by her side and sing her to sleep, singing “Jesus Loves Me” and “You are My Sunshine.” Sunshine was a superb metaphor for Jayda, as she was a bright light for all who came in contact with her. In her short time on earth, she touched the lives of many with her sweet spirit. Even in her death, she offered a new lease on life to many others through her gift of life through organ donation.

A service of love and remembrance for Jayda’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor John Wiggins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service from 10:00-10:45. Burial will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange.

In addition to her parents, Jayda is survived by her siblings, Aleah, Mariah, Kylie, Ja’siah, and Des’myiah; grandparents, Judy and Eddie Abrams and Larry Rouse; god-mother, Alexus McDowell; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her very much.

The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to the doctors and nursing staff of PICU/CVICU at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC; the nursing staff and Dr. Stup from La Grange Pediatrics; and Dr. Pete, Dr. Heir, and the other staff members of the Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville, SC for their constant care for Jayda throughout her life.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Jayda’s honor to the Shriners Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Arrangements entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
