Wilbert Linwood Hughes, Jr., 64, of Princeton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at his home. Wilbert was born in Wayne County on August 3, 1957 to the late Wilbert Leon Hughes and Emma Lee Hollowman Hughes.

In addition to his parents, Wilber is preceded in death by his sister Brenda Freeman.

Wilbert is survived by his lifetime companion, Joan Woodard Tyndall of 19 years; daughter, Melissa Hughes Jackson and son-in-law Claude Jackson; son, Jerry Paul Moore, Jr.; grandchildren, Corrin Jackson, Chandler Jackson, Bryce Moore, Connor Moore; brothers, Arthur Hughes, Kenneth Hughes, and several other friends and family.

He was a loving companion, daddy, Pa, brother, and friend. He will be surely missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who know and loved him.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel with Reverend Dennis Pollock officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations in Princeton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Princeton High School Football Team.
