Nora Davis Kearney, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Emmette Davis and Minnie Newsome Davis.

In addition to her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James “Dibbie” Kearney; daughters, Jarah Baker and Marsha Kearney; and brothers, E.C. Davis and Edgar “Shine” Davis.

Nora is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jenny and Ricky Crumpler and Nan and Danny Thompson; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Pat Kearney; sisters, Shirley Davis Gardner and Mary Ellen Kearney; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Sherry Davis; sister-in-law, Joan Davis; sixteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Nora retired from the Employment Security Commission where she worked as an interviewer. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

A memorial service to celebrate Nora’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Savage officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
