Janice Wilkinson Best, 73, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021. Born in Andalusia, Alabama on April 8, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Lois Wilkinson and Rosie Tipton Wilkinson.

For over 50 years, Janice called Goldsboro her home. She worked at the Goldsboro Piggly Wiggly for over 20 years. She would oftentimes greet customers with her infectious smile.

Janice was a simple lady, but she had a big heart. She loved all of her friends and family, and it was her passion to be able to give her time to them.

Janice loved being home working around her house, especially being able to spend time in her garden. In Janice’s garden is where one could find the most beautiful flowers that she tended to and planted each year. When Janice was not home, she could be found traveling near and far.

A memorial service to celebrate Janice’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Reverend Mason Campbell. The family will receive friends the evening prior on August 24, 2021 from 6-8 PM at Seymour Funeral Home.

Janice is survived by her children, Deborah Denise Smith (Kenneth), DeAnna Cooner Gurganus (Tony), David Darryll Cooner (Rebecca), Julia Mary LeAnne Cooner (Jason), Joel Elton Cooner (Sissy), and David Duane Cooner II; grandchildren, James Duane Gurganus (Kahla), Allyssa Cheyenne Meek (Dustin), Katherine Noel Smith, Cody Elton Cooner, Danielle Lowell Finley (Chance), David Drew Cooner (Heather) and Malania Kay Cooper. Janice is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers, Leland Wilkinson and Royce Wilkinson, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by her brothers, Ander and Wayne, a sister, Bertice, and a granddaughter, Kenleigh Marie.
