Elizabeth “Betsy” Ann Floars Honeycutt

Elizabeth “Betsy” Ann Floars Honeycutt, 88, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at her home in Goldsboro.

Betsy was born in Wayne County on July 7, 1933 to the late George Isaac Floars and Alva Aycock Floars. She grew up in the Nahunta community and graduated from Nahunta High School in 1951. Betsy was a diligent worker who enjoyed several various pursuits throughout the years including telephone operator, restaurant hostess, realtor, police dispatcher, general store owner in downtown Goldsboro and operating a home daycare. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family. Betsy was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

In addition to her parents, Betsy was also preceded in death by her husband, Mallie P. Honeycutt, Jr.; sister, Sylva Rhea Floars Brown; brothers, Alstyne, Jimmy, George Edsel, Jackie, and Bobby Floars; and stepchildren, Ronald Honeycutt and Karen Honeycutt Keys.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jeff Ivey, Kimberly Ivey Sugg and husband, Jeff, Steve Ivey and wife, Melanie, and Mark Honeycutt and wife, Sherry; stepchildren, Mallie P. ”Mal” Honeycutt, III and wife, Christine and Robin Honeycutt Coleman and husband, Ron; grandchildren, Amber Ivey, Candice Ivey Coulter and husband, Jim, Brian Sugg and wife, Katherine, Abby Sugg, Kaitlyn Ivey, Parker Ivey, Ian Honeycutt, Aidan Honeycutt, and Aeron Honeycutt; three great-grandsons, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; her sister, Cecile Floars Hooks; sisters-in-law, Norma Floars and Sue Floars; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 2:15 – 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Betsy’s life at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Committal will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 Highway 70 West, Princeton, NC.
