Everyone will be required to mask up while at Wayne County Public Schools. Tuesday afternoon, the Wayne County Board of Education reversed course and voted to require all students, staff and visitors to wear a mask while in a WCPS school building. That was after the school board heard from Assistant Superintendent Dr. Marcia Manning, who stated fewer students would have to be quarantined after a potential exposure to COVID-19 if everyone was wearing a mask. School board member Jennifer Strickland stated this was the best option for keeping kids in the classroom. WCPS’s new mask mandate goes into effect on Wednesday.
