Area Roundup For Monday, Aug. 16

Spring Creek started its season with a wild non-conference win against James Kenan on Monday afternoon.

Down 3-1 at halftime, the Gators outscored James Kenan 6-2 in the second half and went on to win the match 7-5.

Alex Carmona Morales and Jossue Pineda Hernandez each scored two goals, while Bryan Lopez Sanchez, Ozias Ntumba, and Jason Velasquez Perez all scored one goal apiece.

Pineda Hernandez also dished out a team-high three assists. Carmona Morales finished the game with two assists. Jonah Perez Velasquez and Selvin Velasquez Gonzalez had one assist apiece.

Spring Creek (1-0 overall) will travel to Warsaw for a rematch against James Kenan (0-1) on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Hobbton 4, Princeton 2

Princeton dropped its season opener against Hobbton on Monday afternoon.

Jayden Braswell punched in a pair of goals, but the Bulldogs fell to Hobbton, 4-2.

Princeton (0-1 overall) faces off against Union on Friday at 6 p.m.

 

Rosewood 2, North Lenoir 0

Rosewood traveled to LaGrange for a non-conference matchup against North Lenoir. The Eagles left LaGrange with a 2-0 conquest of the Hawk on Monday evening.

The Eagles scored one goal in each half to get the victory. Antonio Zavala-Baeza scored the Eagles’ first goal off an assist from Reece Gery, while Giovanni Amaro-Silva scored Rosewood’s second goal off an assist from Aaron Zamora.

Rosewood (1-0 overall) will next face Clinton on Friday at 4 p.m.
