Saturday morning firefighters from El-Roy and Wayne County EMS were dispatched to a vehicle crash involving two passenger cars on NC 111 South just past the Food Lion Shopping Center.

A total of four people were taken to the hospital to be checked out with what appeared to be non life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles came to a stop on the shoulder of the south bound lane off the road. Firefighters closed off one of the south bound lanes to allow the safety of the emergency personnel on the scene.

The accident happens when the dark color vehicle crosses the center lane and sideswipe the blue vehicle on the driver side. At the time of the accident the dark color car was heading North on NC111 and the blue vehicle was heading South on NC111 when the vehicles collided.

The crash is being investigated by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
