Judy Mayo Wilkins, 75, was received by her Heavenly Father in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Judy was born September 13, 1945 in Wayne County to the late Charles and Lilly Pearl Wiggs Mayo.
Judy was a graduate of Goldsboro High School and received her nursing degree from Wayne Community College. She was a valued employee of Goldsboro Pediatrics and Wayne Memorial Hospital before her retirement. Judy was known by her neighbors as the neighborhood nurse and would often be called upon for guidance with various needs.
Judy was a caring person with a kind, gentle spirit that radiated compassion. Everyone who knew her loved her, and everyone she knew, she also loved. One of Judy’s greatest gifts was her concern for others. As a charter member of Mar Mac Friends Church, Judy would always show her love for children as a volunteer in the nursery. She was always more concerned with the well-being and comfort of those she was caring for. Judy was tender-hearted and wanted the best for others.
Judy loved and lived Christ-like, radiating His light in the world. She found great joy in service to others. Judy had a gift for encouraging others and making you feel important. She would often be found encouraging others to pursue a career in nursing. Judy thought her career as a nurse was her calling to ministry for others.
A service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at the graveside on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Princeton Cemetery with Howard Seymour and Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Judy is survived by her children, Lisa W. Herring and husband Sam, Stacy Wilkins and wife Trisha, and Keith Wilkins and wife Sheila; sisters, Denise Clark and Katrina Painter; grandchildren, Lauren (Josh), Leanna (Adam), Amber (Dustin), Kayla, Christopher, Amy and James; and a great-granddaughter, Arah Fail.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Raymond Wilkins; and her brother, Wayne Mayo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Judy’s memory to Mar Mac Friends Church, P.O. Box 234, Princeton, NC 27569.
