Just before 1 PM on Friday, the Wayne County 911 Center received a call about an individual having been shot near the 100 block of Wells Court in Dudley. EMS and and Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area. A deputy arrived first and found a male subject lying on the pavement of Wells Court next to a vehicle. The subject was suffering from several wounds. EMS personnel arrived and began treating the subject and transported him to Wayne UNC Healthcare. The victim was treated at this facility and later flown to Vidant Medical Center for further treatment. The subject suffering from the gunshot wounds has been identified as 39-year-old Emmette Tavarus Hill of Dudley. This incident is under investigation and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says no further information is available at this time.
