350 free backpacks loaded with school supplies will be handed out during a community event this Saturday, July 31.

Dillard/Goldsboro Alumni & Friends, Deeper Life Church Ministries and Protect Your Skull teamed to make the day possible.

Tracey Suggs is Goldsboro High grad and a co-founder of Protect Your Skull, an organization that teaches concussion awareness to kids and others.

He says the entire mission is to inspire youth and show them they have love and support.

Suggs says this last year has been tough on students and parents, and he hopes the backpack giveaway will help provide a confidence boost for the kids as they return to the classroom.

He says the opportunity to give back to the community and its future leaders “is spiritual.”

The celebration and backpack giveaway will be held at the Dillard/Goldsboro Alumni & Friends Building, 801 Poplar Street in Goldsboro, from 11 AM – 2 PM this Saturday.

The event will also feature food and bounce houses for the kids.
